REVIEW | GREEN LEAF MATCHA



I’ve been enjoying Matcha for a while now and if I’ve learnt anything, it’s that not all Matcha’s are created equal. Just a quick search on Amazon proves that the simple task of ordering a good quality Matcha for a reasonable price is difficult. Yes, there are cheaper alternatives available, but you really do get what you pay for and if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

When I was approached to review a sample of Green Leaf Ceremonial Matcha Powder (£21 per 30g) I was interested to see whether it was worth the price tag.


The Matcha arrives in a neat little tin which comes with a ring pull to seal in the freshness. Inside there’s a foil bag containing 30g of Organic Ceremonial Matcha Powder*. Straight away I could see that it was of premium quality because of its colour; a vibrant colour not only means a better flavour of Matcha but also more antioxidant powers. The taste did not let me down either! It’s extremely pure, so a little goes a long way. I found that ½ teaspoon was enough for one cup of tea. The powder is very fine so it’s really quick to dissolve and it doesn’t clump.

Once opened the Matcha should be kept away from direct sunlight and used within three months which definitely isn’t going to be a problem for me. I’m sipping on a Matcha latte as we speak!

*There are three different grades of Matcha; Culinary, Latte and Ceremonial. Culinary is typically used in cooking and is low in quality. Latte grade is slightly better quality but best blended with milk. Ceremonial is the superior quality and is delicious simply mixed with water!
